IRVING, Texas — The Swoosh and The Shield re-upped for another decade.

Nike and the NFL announced a 10-year extension to their partnership that began a dozen years ago. Nike will remain the NFL’s exclusive provider for uniforms, practice, sideline, and baselayer attire.

Financial terms of the extension were not disclosed. Counting the years left on the current deal, the Nike-NFL relationship will now run through 2038. The NFL said in October the uniform deal was up for grabs from other bidders once its partnership with Nike expired in 2027. But Nike ultimately stuck.

“It is an incredible partnership that we are incredibly proud of,” NFL commissioner Roger Goodell told reporters gathered for the NFL winter meeting. “I think this gives us a very long agreement that I think shows the confidence we have in this relationship.”

Goodell mentioned that Nike is “a tremendous marketing company” and the league is seeking to use the apparel giant’s reach to boost the NFL’s international expansion efforts. (The NFL confirmed Wednesday that Berlin will host its first regular-season game next year.)

“As we embark on this new chapter, we’re committed to co-creating cutting-edge solutions that meet the rapidly changing needs of NFL athletes and fans, while fueling the league’s growth and development initiatives,” Nike president and CEO Elliott Hill said in a statement.

Nike replaced Reebok as the league’s official uniform provider in 2012. Nike shares were more than 2% higher in midday trading Wednesday.

This field is for validation purposes and should be left unchanged.
