In recent years, American-based companies and investors have come to own numerous Premier League clubs. With new ownership comes the expectation to grow the league’s popularity in the United States.

Among the most-watched Premier League games, each features at least one club in the top 10 most valuable soccer clubs worldwide.

The most watched Premier League game in American history is the March 31, 2024 match between Arsenal and Manchester City, which drew 2.12 million viewers in the U.S.

The highly-anticipated game featured two teams battling for the top spot on the table. Only one point separated them and it was viewed as a potential title-decider. Both clubs were engaged in a tactical chess match that ultimately ended with a 0-0 draw.

A December 2023 matchup between Liverpool and Arsenal drew 1.96 million American viewers to take second.

Arsenal was at the top of the table before the match began with Liverpool just a point behind. The hotly contested game ended in a draw as both clubs failed to capitalize on opportunities to capture a win.

The 2023-2024 season was the most successful for the Premier League in terms of U.S. audience and revenue. Six of the most-watched Premier League games came during the 2023-2024 season.

The 2024-25 season continued positive momentum for the Premier League’s positive momentum in the U.S., though it did not capture the highs of the previous season as Liverpool romped their way to a league title.

NBC Sports said that eight Premier League matches in 2024-25 averaged over 1 million viewers, with an opening-weekend fixture between Chelsea and Manchester City leading the way at 1.8 million viewers. The two clubs ended up battling for Champions League qualification all season long before clinching spots in the top four on the season’s final day.

Despite internal turmoil between the Premier League and its clubs, the league is poised to expand its influence in the U.S.
