LIV Golf Returns After 47-Day Break, Facing $1.1M Lawsuit

LIV Golf is returning to the course this week after an unintended 47-day summer break, as another lawsuit has been filed against the league.

LIV Golf is returning to the course this week after an unintended 47-day summer break, as another lawsuit has been filed against the league amid questions surrounding the remainder of this season and LIV’s long-term future.

After 15 LIV members played in the Open Championship, led by Australian Lucas Herbert who finished tied for sixth place, the league is set to tee it up in England at JCB Golf & Country Club for LIV Golf U.K.—the 10th event of LIV’s 2026 season. Due to the cancellation of LIV Golf Louisiana in June, it has been nearly seven weeks since LIV last played in Spain June 4–7.

The return to competitive golf comes as one of LIV’s former technology partners has sued the league for more than $1 million.

Mobii Systems Group Limited, a Canadian company that previously supplied LIV’s “Any Shot, Any Time” streaming option, claims LIV owes it $1,134,634.34 for breach of contract, unpaid invoices, and interest, according to a lawsuit filed Friday in a Florida federal court.

LIV last provided the “Any Shot, Any Time” service during its Virginia event May 7–10. One LIV executive told Mobii in an email on May 25 the league would no longer be using the company, per the lawsuit. Mobii’s contract was supposed to last until the end of this year.

Earlier this year, LIV was sued in the U.K. by the World Golf Group and Premier Golf League, who are seeking damages up to $630 million from LIV and the Saudi PIF, claiming LIV stole their ideas for a worldwide golf league. Vodka distillery Long Island Spirits also sued the golf league in the U.S. over trademark infringement around “LIV” branding.

LIV’s 2026 Home Stretch

This week’s tournament in the U.K. begins what is scheduled to be a four-event closing stretch to LIV’s 2026 season. In August, LIV has events lined up in New Jersey, Indianapolis, and Michigan. Sources previously expressed concern to Front Office Sports that the PIF would continue to fund LIV for the entirety of the season. LIV CEO Scott O’Neil would not guarantee all four events would take place as planned when asked about the situation in June.

O’Neil is also not listed on the official media website’s pre-tournament press conference scheduling. O’Neil last held a pre-tournament press conference at LIV Golf Virginia, which was the league’s first U.S. event of the season in May. O’Neil continues to lead LIV’s search for new investors

Jon Rahm and members of his LIV team, Legion XIII, will kick off pre-tournament press conferences Tuesday morning in the U.K. Bryson DeChambeau is not scheduled to hold a press conference as fallout continues from the situation surrounding his rules violation at the Open Championship.

This field is for validation purposes and should be left unchanged.
