Jameson Williams has cost himself some money—again.

The Lions wide receiver has been suspended for two games for violating the NFL’s performance-enhancing substances policy, according to ESPN.

Williams, who Detroit took 12th in the 2022 draft, is in the third year of his rookie contract, which carries a cap hit of $4.7 million this season. His base salary is roughly $1.9 million for this season. He’ll lose about $210,270 from the two missed game checks.

It’s unknown which substance Williams took and whether he knowingly consumed it because the NFL hasn’t formally announced the suspension.

Speaking to reporters Monday, Williams said he was disappointed with the situation, but has “no choice but to take it on the chin.”

It’s not the first time Williams has been suspended for non-football reasons. In 2023, he was suspended for six games for violating the league’s gambling policy by betting on other sports while at the Lions’ practice facility or team hotel. The suspension was reduced to three games after the NFL revised its gambling policy.

The league changed its gambling policy in 2023 to reduce first-time offenders for betting on other sports at the workplace to two games, six games for the second violation and at least a year for third-time offenders. Betting on the NFL is an indefinite suspension for at least a year and goes to two if the player’s team is involved.

Before the suspension, Williams was off to his best start as a pro, already amassing 361 yards and three touchdowns, both career highs after catching just two for 354 in 2023. Williams was limited to just six games his rookie season after recovering from an ACL tear at Alabama.

This field is for validation purposes and should be left unchanged.
