After a meteoric rise to stardom with the Mariners, Julio Rodriguez signed a lucrative and complex deal in 2022 with plenty of upside.

The 2022 AL Rookie of the Year signed a fully guaranteed 12-year, $209.3 million extension. It includes a $15 million signing bonus and the opportunity to earn $375K in additional bonuses each season.

The two-time All-Star and two-time Silver Slugger sits among the highest-paid MLB outfielders, but could still earn up to $35 million annually.

Through award bonuses and a club option, Rodriguez could earn a maximum value of $470 million. With the club option, Rodriguez would earn up to $35 million per year through incentives such as:

If he’s denied a club option, his incentives featured through his player option include:

  • 5-years, $100 million if he earns eight combined Silver Slugger or All-Star Selections
  • 5-years, $125 million if he wins one MVP and two All-Star selections
