FloSports Continues Whirlwind of Deals with Big East Extension

  • The streamer has extended its partnership with its most high-profile client.
  • It’s the latest in a string of college sports deals for FloSports, which is looking to elevate “underserved” properties.

There’s been yet another move in the college sports media rights space — and no, it’s not the Big Ten’s pending deal.

FloSports, a subscription-based streaming company, announced on Thursday that it has signed a three-year extension with the Big East. Financial terms of the Big East deal were not disclosed.

“Since the onset of this partnership, we’ve seen steady, consistent growth both in viewership and engagement for BIG EAST athletics,” FloSports VP of Global Rights Acquisition Michael Levy said in a statement.

The streamer, which is focused on elevating coverage for “underserved” sports, now has solidified women’s basketball and olympic sports partnerships with its most high-profile college sports content.

  • The deal will focus primarily on women’s basketball, but also include Olympic sports.
  • While the powerhouse UConn team has a deal with SNY, other teams get less traction on the other linear networks.
  • Also of particular note is the Big East Digital Network, which FloSports has carried and will continue to broadcast.

The Big East’s other partnerships include Fox Sports and CBS.

“We are committed to further enhancing the quality of the over 600 events the Conference office and institutions produce every year,” Big East deputy commissioner Vince Nicastro said in a statement.

The deal is the third major partnership the streamer has signed in the last few weeks.

On Monday, it solidified a four-year, seven-figure partnership with the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference — a Division II football powerhouse. The deal is billed as the largest in the history of D-II.

It also broke a record set by FloSports just a few weeks earlier, when it inked a seven-figure, five-year deal with the South Atlantic Conference.
