Since getting a taste for sports team ownership with Wrexham AFC, Ryan Reynolds could be turning his attention to a major sports franchise in his native Canada.

Reynolds is reportedly “very interested” in buying the Ottawa Senators assuming the team is ultimately sold, according to People.

The Vancouver native would reportedly prioritize keeping the Sens in Ottawa as opposed to relocating them. The team is planning a new arena in the city’s downtown, with a long-term land-lease agreement possible by Fall 2023.

Speculation into new owners for the Senators has begun after the team reportedly hired Galatioto Sports Partners to explore a sale.

Former owner Eugene Melnyk died in March, leaving the team to his two daughters.

Reynolds would likely need to be part of a larger ownership group if he were to make a run at the Sens, as the team is valued at $550 million and could sell for more.

Reynolds’ ownership — alongside business partner and fellow actor Rob McElhenney — has done wonders for Wrexham, which is one of the oldest soccer clubs in the world.

Last month, Wrexham played a match on American linear television for the first time.
