ATLANTA — 49ers principal owner Jed York, who was arrested last weekend in a prostitution-related case in Ohio, did not attend Wednesday’s NFL owners’ meeting at an airport hotel in Atlanta.
York was not spotted at the meeting, and his absence was confirmed to Front Office Sports by a source familiar with the matter. Al Guido, the CEO of the 49ers, attended the meeting, which isn’t unusual for him. However, he was the 49ers’ primary representative because of York’s absence.
York was not the only primary owner of an NFL team missing from Wednesday’s meeting. But his absence was particularly noticeable because he faces possible disciplinary action by the NFL under its personal conduct policy.
“It’s being reviewed under the personal conduct policy,” NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said of his arrest following the meeting. “And we’ll do that. And when there’s something to be reported, we’ll [comment further].”
Several owners declined to discuss the situation as they left the meeting.
“We’ll leave that to the league to handle,” one owner told FOS.
The 2026 version of the personal conduct policy for league and non-player club employees says: “Ownership and club or league management have traditionally been held to a higher standard and will be subject to more significant discipline when violations of the Policy occur.”
One source familiar with the NFL’s inner workings told FOS this week that York could spend some time away from the 49ers.
York, 46, posted a $5,000 bond and was released on his own recognizance after pleading no contest to charges of disorderly conduct and possessing criminal tools, according to Columbiana County, Ohio, court records. York spent one day in jail and was fined $1,150, plus additional court fees. An initial filing said that York was arraigned for “engaging in prostitution.” The East Palestine, Ohio, police made the arrest, along with the Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force.
