Major League Soccer and Apple announced details of their new streaming service on Wednesday.
“MLS Season Pass” launches on Feb. 1, 2023, a big opening act for their historic 10-year, $2.5 billion deal.
Apple’s new subscription service will feature every live match via the Apple TV app. Details:
- MLS Season Pass will cost $14.99 per month during the season or $99 per season. Existing Apple TV+ subscribers can sign up for a discounted rate of $12.99 per month or $79 for the season.
- Some of the biggest matches will be available at no additional cost to Apple TV+ subscriber. A select few will stream free on the Apple app.
- Season ticket holders for MLS’ 29 clubs get a complimentary subscription.
- Fans in over 100 countries will be able to watch every live regular-season match, the playoffs, and the Leagues Cup — with no blackouts.
- There will also be an “NFL RedZone”-like whip-around show highlighting the biggest goals and saves.
MLS Season Pass will deliver the league’s “biggest worldwide audience ever,” according to Apple, with matches available across “billions” of devices.
When the 2023 regular season kicks off on Feb. 25, all MLS clubs will also sport an Apple TV sleeve patch, each with a different color.
“There isn’t a more perfect time to introduce MLS Season Pass, coming off the heels of the most dramatic MLS Cup in history and with MLS as the fastest-growing soccer league in the world,” said Eddy Cue, Apple’s senior vice president of services in a statement. “We’re counting down the days to February 2023 when fans everywhere can enjoy MLS Season Pass on billions of devices — all with no blackouts.”
