Last weekend’s U.S. Open was the most-watched edition of the golf tournament since 2019, NBC announced.

Viewership for the full tournament averaged 3.4 million across NBC, Peacock, and USA Network, the best U.S. Open average in four years and up 27% over last year. Sunday’s final round at Los Angeles Country Club on NBC, Peacock, and NBC Sports Digital averaged 6.2 million viewers. It peaked at 10.2 million viewers as Wyndham Clark held off Rory MclIroy to win the tournament.

Sunday’s final round passed last year’s U.S. Open final round average of 5.4 million viewers, as well as the 5.6 million final round viewership in 2021 at Torrey Pines. It was the most-watched U.S. Open since 2019’s tournament at Pebble Beach.

The U.S. Open victory was Clark’s first major win, catapulting him to 13th in the World Golf Rankings after being ranked as low as 313th over the past year. Clark earned $3.6 million for his win as part of a record $20 million U.S. Open purse.

Primetime coverage of the 2023 U.S. Open on NBC, Peacock and NBC Sports Digital across the full four round coverage averaged 4.8 million viewers – the best marks since 2019 and up 25% from 2021. This year’s U.S. Open was also the most-streamed golf event in NBC Sports history with more than 502 million minutes streamed across Peacock, NBCSports.com and the NBC Sports app.
