    Negro League Baseball Museum Seeks $25M for New Home

    The Negro League Baseball Museum announced plans to build a new 30,000-square-foot facility in Kansas City, MO.

    Bank of America has donated $1 million toward the project, which is expected to cost $25 million to build. A campaign to raise $25 has been launched by the Negro League Baseball Museum, which was founded in 1990 by Baseball Hall of Famer Buck O’Neil. 

    Since 1997, the NLBM has been housed in a 10,000-square-foot structure located at Historic 18th & Vine in Kansas City. The new state-of-the-art museum will be built next to the Buck O’Neil Education and Research Center.

    MLB’s ongoing expansion considerations also tie the Negro League Baseball Museum. Bob Kendrick, the museum’s president, is part of a group formed in 2020 that wants to bring an MLB team to Nashville.
