Panthers to Protect House by Blocking Maple Leafs Fans From Tickets

  • Fans with billing addresses in Canada can’t buy tickets on Ticketmaster to Games 3 and 4 in Florida.

The Florida Panthers are geo-restricting ticket sales on Ticketmaster to keep Toronto Maple Leafs fans from FLA Live Arena for their second-round playoff matchup.

Tickets for the series went on sale Monday before Game 1 is played Tuesday in Toronto. The first two games will be in Toronto before the Panthers host Games 3 and 4.

With Maple Leafs fans known to support the team in droves on the road, the Panthers have added an “Important Event Info” message on Ticketmaster under the pages for Games 3 and 4. Users with credit card billing addresses in Canada are banned from purchasing tickets.

“Primary sales to this event will be restricted to residents of the United States,” reads the message on Ticketmaster. “Residency will be based on credit card billing address. Orders for primary tickets by residents outside of the United States will be canceled without notice and refunds given.”

Tickets for the Panthers’ home games currently start at $199 on Ticketmaster, while Florida would also host a potential Game 6 should the series get that far. For the Maple Leafs, Tuesday’s Game 1 will mark the franchise’s first appearance in the second round of the playoffs since 2004.
