LeBron James Will Co-Host an Alternative TNF Stream

  • James' "The Shop" will host special guests while the Titans play the Packers on Nov. 17.
  • Maverick Carter and Paul Rivera will also co-host the program.
Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

With alternative telecasts all the rage right now, Amazon Prime Video is exploring a new personality-driven offering with some serious star power.

The streaming giant announced that “The Shop” — the HBO show executive produced by LeBron James and Maverick Carter, and co-created by Paul Rivera — will run an alternative stream to premiere Nov. 17 when the Tennessee Titans play the Green Bay Packers on “Thursday Night Football.”

Aptly named “TNF in The Shop,” the show will see James, Carter, and Rivera host special guests to chat about the game, personal experiences, pop culture, and current events in what Prime is calling a “party–style experience.”

“Each week, Thursday Night Football brings together friends and family to watch and engage with the teams and players they love,” said Prime Video Sports’ head of talent Amina Hussein. “With ‘TNF in The Shop,’ we are honored to deepen that fan experience through organic, authentic conversation.”

The guests for the program have not been announced yet — but Prime notes that previous guests on The Shop include Tom Brady, Jay-Z, and Naomi Osaka.

This is far from Prime’s first foray into alternative streams in its first season with full NFL media rights: It currently has “TNF with Dude Perfect,” “TNF with Storm & Kremer,” “TNF en Español,” and “Prime Vision with Next Gen Stats” on its roster.
