Division II Conference Inks a 7-Figure Broadcast Deal

  • The agreement between FloSports and the South Atlantic Conference is worth seven-figures, FOS confirmed.
  • The deal is heralded as the largest in D-II history.
South Atlantic Conference

Division I schools and Power 5 conferences aren’t the only ones drawing the interest of broadcast rights providers. While it’s not a flashy, billion-dollar deal, a Division II conference inked a lucrative partnership of its own on Thursday.

The South Atlantic Conference has signed a five-year agreement with broadcast streamer FloSports. The deal is worth seven figures, Chris Keldorf, FloSports’ Senior Director of Global Rights Acquisition, confirmed to FOS.

  • The deal, which sees the first D-II conference sign with FloSports as its primary broadcaster, is heralded as the biggest in the division’s history.
  • It includes 1,300 streamed games and 23 televised championships.

In a statement, Keldorf said the SAC’s inventory “significantly bolsters our collegiate programming.”

FloSports, which distributes content globally through a streaming subscription service, isn’t a heavy hitter in the college sports space like legacy linear broadcasters ESPN, CBS, and Fox, but it’s carving a niche for itself with smaller conferences and provides visibility for

sports that traditionally haven’t made the cut.

It has also pushed a streaming model that has become increasingly popular for college sports broadcasts. One partner you may have heard of: the Big East.

FloSports began by providing a platform for Big East women’s basketball games, and this past season became the new streamer for the Big East Digital Network, which broadcasts basketball and olympic sports.

With the SAC, FloSports now has a total of seven conference deals.

“We are proud to lead the way in what we feel is the future of sports broadcasting,” SAC Commissioner Patrick Britz said in a statement.
