PGA-Affiliated DP World Tour Bans LIV Golfers from Scottish Open

The PGA Tour has struck back against any LIV golfers looking to play in other European tournaments.

The DP World Tour has banned LIV players from playing in next month’s Scottish Open, as well as the Barbasol Championship and Barracuda Championship. All three events are co-sanctioned with the PGA Tour.

Members of the European Tour who have joined LIV will also be fined $123,000, but will still be allowed to play in other European events such as the Irish Open, which begins June 30.

The Scottish Open is one of five Rolex Series events — the first four of which offer a prize pool of $8 million — and has traditionally served as a good tuneup for The Open Championship, which begins the week after.

The PGA Tour was dealt another big blow Monday when four-time major winner Brooks Koepka announced he would be departing for LIV.

While this most recent development could create some doubt in the minds of would-be LIV defectors, the PGA Tour may ultimately lose the war with the Saudi-backed upstart tour, as major tournaments have not yet turned LIV players away.
