Knicks Were Most Expensive NBA Ticket For 12th Straight Season

  • A group of four paid an average of $937 per game in 2021-22.
  • Despite making the playoffs once in nine seasons, the Knicks outpriced the Warriors, Lakers, Celtics, and Bulls.
Wendell Cruz-USA TODAY Sports

The Knicks haven’t had much success on the court, but they still somehow managed to be the most expensive ticket in the NBA for a 12th consecutive season.

There’s little doubt about the team’s popularity and appeal for hoops tourists eager to visit Madison Square Garden — but a group of four paid roughly $937 to attend one game during the 2021-22 season.

Not only did the Knicks miss the playoffs this season, but they’ve only made the postseason once in the past nine years and haven’t won a title since 1973.

Yet they still ranked eighth in average attendance in the NBA (18,621) — a testament to the loyalty of their core fan base.

Trailing the Knicks in pricing were the Warriors ($740), Lakers ($712), Celtics ($596), and Bulls ($579).

The Warriors and Celtics are the only teams who remain in the NBA playoffs, but the Knicks, Lakers, and Bulls have retained the bandwidth, popularity, and big-market allure to keep NBA fans purchasing tickets — no matter how steep the price.
