USA TODAY

After going to bat for minor leaguers during MLB’s 99-day lockout, the players associations paid $50,000 to the unionized minor league this past November, according to the Associated Press.

The league’s new collective bargaining agreement set minimum salaries for players on 40-man rosters, including a significant increase for players under their second major league contract.

Players in the majors represented by a union have a minimum salary of $700,000.

Minor leaguers on their first big contract have a minimum salary of $57,200.

Those in the minors without representation from a union will make a weekly minimum of $500 at the Class A level, $600 in Double-A, and $700 for Triple-A.

The AP also reported that the players union had $271.2 million in cash on Dec. 31 — up $92.7 million from the end of 2020.
