With Roma receiving big media attention following their massively successful farewell campaign to club legend, Francesco Totti, Inter Milan have now launched their own creative campaign to commemorate 110 years of the Internazionale football club. Currently sitting 2nd in the Serie A table and in the hunt for the Scudetto, Inter have committed to an aggressive content strategy that will see them post 110 stories across 110 days in lead-up to the club’s 110th birthday on March 9th.

The club has created a special website to house the initiative, an interesting move, and one that is sure to generate additional traffic for the Italian giants. These stories will highlight the great history of Inter Milan and are sure to tug on the heart strings of long-time supporters.

“Emotions are the driving force behind everything we do at Inter. We aim to share emotions with the fans to strengthen their ties to the club,” expressed Giuliano Giorgetti, Media Content Director at Inter Milan. “Our ‘110 Years’ initiative revisits many of the defining moments in the club’s history with the aim of growing our fan base and making them aware of Inter’s past.”

The club has done well to create an intriguing campaign for an anniversary that could be easily overlooked. However, this is the job of creatives, to capitalize on opportunity. Whether it be a title victory, a well-documented player retirement, or, in this case, an anniversary, a successful communication department draws eyeballs to any occasion.

Truthfully, a 110 year anniversary can easily slip the mind of supporters but this campaign has brought life to something that should be celebrated.

“The idea is basically to describe Inter’s history through emotions as they are what ultimately bring the fans and the club together,” explained Giorgetti.

While Inter Milan faces a difficult battle for media attention in a country with a number of high profile teams including Juventus, AC Milan, Roma, Lazio, Napoli and cross town rivals AC Milan, this campaign will help strengthen their foothold, not only with current supporters, but football supporters alike.

Happy 110 years, Internazionale!
