Regardless of the situation, there’s always a choice for how you react. My recommendation is choose positivity.
Landing a job. Changing your job. Being promoted in your job. Building a team at your job. All of these job related decisions/outcomes can be stressful. They can be emotionally draining, but they can also be emotionally exciting. Life is fast moving, and whether you like it or not, there are always going to be ups and downs on your journey. Sometimes you will feel rejected. Other times you will light up the room with joy. Regardless of the situation, there’s always a choice for how you react. My recommendation is choose positivity.
Choosing positivity may seem simple or cliché, but I promise it’s a great decision. Obviously, it’s easier to choose positivity when things go your way. It almost comes naturally when things are going your way. However, it’s an even more important choice to make when things aren’t going your way, such as when you’re struggling to land your first full time offer or when a project you’ve invested time and effort in gets cancelled. This is when you have to make the choice of positivity.
Let me explain what I mean by choosing positivity. Choosing positivity means that no matter what happens you are going to focus on moving forward, on making things work out, on learning from every situation. It means putting a smile on your face and believing things will work out. I’m not saying you won’t be hurt or discouraged when things don’t turn out the way you want them to. I’m saying when you choose positivity you can channel your emotions to create more opportunities in the future.
When something happens in your life you can choose to have a negative reaction, or you can choose to have a positive reaction. It’s great to acknowledge your feelings and emotions, but no matter how you may feel at the moment, choosing positivity and finding it within yourself to have a positive outlook will bring you more happiness and success.
I’ll be the first one to tell you that it’s much easier to think about choosing positivity or writing about choosing positivity than actually doing it. It’s devastating when you don’t get the job you really wanted or land the client you’ve been negotiating with for months. It hurts. It sucks. But life isn’t over, and it’s your choice to decide what to do next and how you want to react.
I choose positivity because I have one life to live, and I want to make it the best life I possibly can. Even though I hate losing or getting rejected, I choose to keep focusing on the positive. I know everything will work out.
Choosing positivity is not just a choice, it’s a lifestyle. When you decide to choose positivity in every situation, you can make any situation better and continue to progress with your life.
