On Tuesday, the MLB released the special event uniform combos for the 2017 season. The special events include Mother’s Day, Memorial Day, Father’s Day, Independence Day (Canada Day for the Toronto Blue Jays), and the All-Star Game/Home Run Derby. Of the new designs, the Home Run Derby and All-Star Game designs have the most change.

In an MLB.com article, Noah Garden, MLB Executive Vice-President, Business, stated, “Anytime we go into these different cities for All-Star Week, we want to somehow bring out what makes each city special […] In this case, Miami offered us a good ability to do something with more vibrant colors and the palm trees.”

MLB decided that teams will wear the uniforms for the entire weekend, not just Sunday’s games. This is a great way to celebrate each holiday and provide more exposure to the charitable causes each uniform is connected to.

New this year to the uniforms are themed socks provided by Stance, a sponsor MLB signed last May to be the league’s official sock.

Below, is a breakdown of the designs and the charities they are associated with.

Mother’s Day (5/13–14) and Father’s Day (6/17–18)

Affiliated Charitable Foundation: Susan G. Komen Foundation and Prostate Cancer Foundation

Notable Features: The pink and blue, for their respective holidays, pair nicely with the graphite. The tie-dye socks are a fun twist to two holidays that already see plenty of colorful accessories.

Memorial Day (5/17–19)

Affiliated Charitable Foundation: MLB Charities

Notable Features: There are five stars on the right side of each cap to represent the five branches of the military. This is a nice, subtle way to honor the entire U.S. Military.

Independence Day (7/1–4)

Affiliated Charitable Foundation: MLB Charities

Notable Features: The socks! It’s hard not to like one leg of stripes and one leg of stars. MLB also created a special Maple Leaf combo for the Toronto Blue Jays to wear in honor of Canada Day.

All Star Futures Game, Workout Day, and Home Run Derby (7/9–10)

Notable Features: What isn’t notable about these uniforms? From the honeycomb mesh hats to the floral socks to the bright blue and orange jerseys, these uniforms are loud and Miami proud.

All Star Game (7/11)

Notable Features: Each player’s jersey will feature a star on the left sleeve with a number in the middle representing the number of All-Star Game appearances they’ve had. It’s a great way to recognize the accomplishment for each player. Additionally, the eyelets on the caps have gold-plated stars on them, which tie perfectly together with the gold threads of the team logos. (Pictures of the jerseys were not released at the time this was written.)
