The NFL said it will review an on-field exchange Sunday between an official and Cardinals tight end Trey McBride.
“We are looking into the matter,” the NFL told Front Office Sports in a statement by a spokesman.
Line judge Jeff Seeman, standing on the field, appeared to curse at McBride, who was on the sideline, during the Cardinals’ loss to the Giants at MetLife Stadium.
“This kind of behavior from an official towards a player is unacceptable,” JC Tretter, the executive director of the NFL Players Association, wrote in a statement posted to social media. “Players are consistently held accountable when the roles are reversed. We expect the NFL to hold officials to the same standard.”
The interaction occurred following a third-down incompletion from Cardinals quarterback Jacoby Brissett to McBride with just less than five minutes remaining, on which the officials called no penalty on a Giants defender.
