SEC Netflix Series Not Returning for Second Season This Year

The conference is leaving the door open for the show to potentially continue in future years.

The SEC’s Netflix docuseries that debuted last summer isn’t returning for a second season this year, Front Office Sports has learned. But the conference’s tie-up with the streamer isn’t necessarily one-and-done.

Last August, SEC Football: Any Given Saturday premiered on Netflix. The seven-episode docuseries—produced by the same company that created Formula 1: Drive to Survive, Box To Box Films—chronicled 10 SEC teams during the 2024 college football season.

“Our original plan was to do one season and then reassess,” a SEC spokesperson told FOS. “We have discussed the possibility of a second season, as well as whether there may be other opportunities or approaches worth exploring.” No filming for a second season has taken place at this point.

Only one of the SEC’s three teams that made the College Football Playoff in 2024, Tennessee, participated in the Netflix series, while Georgia and Texas did not (nor did non-playoff teams Alabama, Missouri, Oklahoma, and Ole Miss). Schools that did take part in the show made their coaches and some players available for interviews and allowed filming inside team facilities and locker rooms.

“We thought our appearance on Netflix last year was beneficial for us,” a South Carolina spokesperson told FOS. “It did take a lot of time, effort, and coordination amongst our staff. We are open to working with them again in the future, should the opportunity arise.”

The Gamecocks and coach Shane Beamer were heavily featured in the show, including the premiere episode that focused on a Week 3 thriller against LSU. South Carolina finished the 2024 regular season with a 9–3 record and fell just short of being selected for the first 12-team CFP.

LSU and since-fired coach Brian Kelly, Vanderbilt and former quarterback Diego Pavia, and Texas A&M and then-first-year coach Mike Elko were among the other notable SEC figures that participated in the Netflix series.

Watch Party

SEC Football: Any Given Saturday garnered 3 million views from its Aug. 5, 2025 release date through December, according to Netflix’s second half of 2025 engagement report. That ranked 780th out of the 7,700-plus programs listed in the streamer’s report. Netflix calculates views as total hours of a program viewed divided by its runtime; for the SEC series that was 15.8 million hours viewed and a runtime of 5 hours, 15 minutes. The show added another 200,000 views in the first half of this year.

For comparison, Season 2 of Quarterback—the Netflix series produced by Peyton Manning’s Omaha Productions—ranked 343rd in Netflix’s H2 2025 report with 5.6 million viewers (the season premiered July 8. 2025).

Outside the SEC, Notre Dame has been featured for the past two seasons in the Peacock docuseries Here Come The Irish. Paramount+ is currently producing a docuseries around Texas Tech.

Ahead of SEC Football: Any Given Saturday’s debut last summer, the show’s executive producer Paul Martin of Box To Box Films, told FOS it was too early to speak on a potential second season. “We’ve loved our time with the SEC,” he said in July 2025. “It’s such an amazing place to watch football. So, we’re very happy in our relationship.”

It’s unclear whether any filming is planned for the 2026 college football season. Six of the SEC’s 16 teams have new coaches this year after a record amount of coaching changes last fall.

Box To Box Films declined to comment, and Netflix did not respond to requests for comment.

This field is for validation purposes and should be left unchanged.
