It’s officially official.

ESPN announced Tuesday it has finalized a deal with NFL reporter Peter Schrager. Front Office Sports first reported last week that Schrager was nearing a deal with ESPN to leave his roles on NFL Network’s Good Morning Football and Fox Sports’ Sunday NFL pregame coverage.

Schrager, whose final day on GMFB was Monday, will be embedded with ESPN in time for the NFL Draft in Green Bay later this month.

He will ultimately appear across ESPN’s studio programming, on shows like Get Up, First Take, The Pat McAfee Show, SportsCenter, and NFL Live.

“Peter will have an instant impact at ESPN combining his charismatic style and deep knowledge of the NFL,” ESPN president of content Burke Magnus said in a statement. “His versatility is an asset and will be on display across our shows and platforms as he becomes a signature voice of our NFL coverage. He is a tremendous addition to our roster.”

After publication of our initial story Friday, one source told FOS that Magnus and Schrager were sitting together at the Jimmy V Classic at MSG this past December.

Schrager had been one of the mainstays on GMFB, which launched in 2016 along with fellow cohosts Kay Adams, Nate Burleson, and Kyle Brandt. Brandt is now the only one remaining.

“I’m incredibly excited for this amazing opportunity with ESPN. Beyond their fantastic year-round, wall-to-wall, coverage of the NFL, ESPN is personally special to me in that I grew up watching SportsCenter three or four times every morning before school and swore by that NFL Primetime music with Chris Berman and Tom Jackson doing the highlights on Sunday nights,” Schrager said. “I can’t wait to be a part of it all and am thrilled to be joining this incredible team.”
