After a stellar year for quarterback Jared Goff, the Lions are primed for a successful future.
But if the talented QB wants to continue his rise, he will need a talented right tackle to keep him upright.

The franchise has that person in Penei Sewell, who is the league’s highest-paid protector of the quarterback with his $28 million salary. Sewell recently signed a four-year, $112 million contract extension to remain with the lions through 2029.

Taking the second position is Texans’ left tackle Laremy Tunsil at $25 million. Tunsil signed a three-year, $75 million contract extension with the Texans last offseason.

Third on the list is Giants left tackle Andrew Thomas at $23.5 million. Thomas signed a five-year, 117.5 million extension with the franchise last offseason.

Coming in at Nos. 4 and 5 on the list are 49ers left tackle Trent Williams and Eagles left tackle Jordan Mailata. Williams, who makes $23.01 million annually, signed a six-year deal with San Francisco in 2021 worth more than $138 million. Mailata recently signed a three-year, $66 million contract to remain with the Eagles.
