Yankees, Knicks RSNs Ditch Gotham App for DAZN Deal

DAZN greatly expands its U.S. presence in a deal with two New York-area regional sports networks.

The Yankees-controlled YES Network and James Dolan-led MSG Networks will make global sports platform DAZN the exclusive streaming home for their teams.

Beginning with the 2026–27 NBA and NHL seasons, DAZN (“da-zone”) will stream the Yankees, Knicks, Nets, Rangers, Devils, Islanders, and Sabres, as well as the 24/7 feeds of the YES Network and MSG Networks, to subscribers in those teams’ local markets.

The switch to DAZN will mean the shuttering of the Gotham Sports app.

Since August 2024, the YES Network and MSG Networks have collaborated on the Gotham Sports app, representing a rare bundling of separate regional sports network services in a single market, and building a technology-based joint venture struck earlier that year

After a series of price decreases implemented in early 2026, the YES Network has seen a 33% boost in its streaming audience this year, even with an injury-laden Yankees team, and the Knicks won their first NBA title since 1973.

The addition of DAZN is aimed at further expanding the digital reach of the two RSNs. Financial terms of the pact were not disclosed.

“It is a defining moment for us and underscores our commitment to expanding our footprint in the United States,” said DAZN Group CEO Shay Segev in a statement.

The exact timing of the forthcoming migration from the Gotham Sports app to DAZN is still being finalized, but it will be after the current MLB season. That will allow the Yankees and YES Network to avoid the type of midseason disruption experienced by baseball’s Rangers, who switched their local streaming earlier this month from Victory+ to BZZR.

Linear television subscribers of the YES Network and MSG Networks will receive the streaming feeds on DAZN at no additional cost, similar to the current structure for the Gotham Sports app.

For DAZN, the New York-area pact also builds on a recent acquisition of streaming technology developer ViewLift in a deal worth about $100 million. With that addition, DAZN has been widely seen as a potential new home for teams cut loose amid the recent demise of RSN operator Main Street Sports Group. In MLB, the league picked up the local media production and distribution for many of those clubs.

This New York-area deal, however, did not involve any teams previously connected to Main Street Sports.

This field is for validation purposes and should be left unchanged.
