With the Peach Bowl taking place at Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium — less than a two-hour drive from the University of Georgia’s Athens campus — the Bulldogs would seem to have a home-field advantage when they take on Ohio State in Saturday’s College Football Playoff semifinal.

As the great Lee Corso would say, “Not so fast, my friend.”

After going on sale earlier in December, the Buckeyes’ allotment of 13,000 tickets for the game reportedly sold out within two days.

“I think there’s going to be a tremendous amount of Buckeyes in the stadium and around the stadium as well,” Peach Bowl CEO Gary Stokan told the Columbus Dispatch.

OSU is, of course, assisted by its very large enrollment and alumni network: As of 2022, 65,795 attended the university at the undergraduate and graduate levels — easily the most of any school in the CFP and third-most in the entire country.

The high demand for the game, as well as the accompanying Fiesta Bowl, have driven up ticket prices, with Peach Bowl tickets going for $697 on average — and as much as $50,000.
