Stealing Our Hearts: How Baseball Celebrated Valentine’s Day

“How can you not be romantic about baseball?” -Moneyball. Photo courtesy of the Cincinnati Reds Twitter Account

February is a great month for baseball fans. Not only is it the start of Spring Training, but they get to prepare for the upcoming season with killer Valentine’s Day promotions. Some people may think teams are trying to avoid FOMO (Fear Of Missing Out), but I think it’s one of the best holidays for baseball teams to plan promotions around.

Ticket sales are in full swing, Spring Training is right around the corner, and it’s an easy way to keep the baseball fan in your life happy. The only debate should be whether or not “bae-seball” is an appropriate phrase for the day (it’s probably not).

So how did teams celebrate the day of love, which conveniently fell on the first day of Spring Training for most teams? Find out below!

Ticket Packages and Mascot Visits: Like Christmas ticket packages, Valentine’s Day ticket packages are great gifts for baseball fans. In addition to tickets, packages usually include food vouchers, team store gift cards, and swag. Some teams even give the option of having their mascot deliver the package. This is a great option to offer because the lovable creatures bring an exciting element to the delivery that your typical delivery person can’t.
