College football’s reigning national champions will head into the 2022 season with an updated base of operations.
Georgia recently unveiled the completed expansion and renovation to its Butts-Mehre Heritage Hall — which houses the university’s Athletic Association and also serves as the practice and training facility for the football team.
Head coach Kirby Smart, linebacker Nolan Smith, and former head coach Vince Dooley were present for the unveiling.
Construction began in January 2020 with a budget of $80 million. The project was designed by architecture firm HOK and built by DPR Construction.
The complex’s last renovations were completed in 2012 .
The 136,300 square feet of new space will feature a new locker room, players’ lounge, nutrition bar, barbershop, and state-of-the-art weight room.
UGA begins its title defense Sept. 3 against Oregon at Atlanta’s Mercedes Benz Stadium.
