New York Mets star pitcher Max Scherzer has paid $15M for a waterfront mansion in Jupiter, Florida, according to The Real Deal. The 7,200-square-foot purchase is Scherzer’s second property in Jupiter’s Admirals Cove gated community and brings his total spending in the neighborhood to $24.7 million.

Scherzer and his wife Erica plan to tear down their latest purchase, which has five bedrooms, 4.5 bathrooms, and 325 feet of waterfront space with a docking area for a yacht. Residents can also join the swanky Admirals Cove Premier Club, which spans a golf course, tennis center, yacht club, several restaurants, and a marina. Other high-profile homeowners in Admirals Cove have included golf star Dustin Johnson, Celine Dion, and Donald Trump Jr.

Retired newsletter publisher Robert Smylie and his wife Winifred Smylie first listed their Jupiter home for $18M in November before selling it to Scherzer for $15M. The three-time Cy Young Award winner also owns a home across the street that he bought for $9.8M in 2020. The Mets made Scherzer the highest-paid MLB player by annual salary in 2021 when he signed a three-year deal worth $130M.
