As consumer dollars transition away from material goods and into experiential purchases, creating unforgettable fan experiences remains a top priority for sports organizations across the globe. And as technology evolves, so do the ways fans interact with their favorite players and teams. Especially the younger generation.

With the rise of streaming, AR/VR, AI, and Web3, both leagues and teams alike are aiming to reinvent the way fans engage with their favorite sports. While many organizations are still watching from the sidelines, those who have invested heavily in creating immersive digital and physical experiences are seeing significant boosts in engagement, revenue, and fan loyalty.

Few companies understand this shift better than Globant

  • A leading digital transformation firm, Globant has spent the last decade designing a sports solution ecosystem with a single goal in mind: Extending the fan journey before, during, and after the games.
  • With an end-to-end team of innovation executives, strategists, and software engineers, Globant is well-versed in the intersection of technology and fan engagement, from full-stack development of seamless ticketing solutions to wayfinding and content streaming.

Now, it’s partnering up with the largest sports teams in the world to bring these immersive experiences to the masses.

In September, Globant announced a joint venture with LaLiga to expand the products and services of its tech solutions ecosystem, LaLiga Tech.

  • Since its inception in 2014, LaLigaTech has helped countless sports and entertainment industry clients with a slew of white-labeled products surrounding fan engagement, content enhancement and protection, and competition management.
  • Now, Globant is pouring fuel on the fire, extending LaLiga Tech’s offerings to Web3, gaming, the metaverse, and many other rising technologies.

According to Executive Director of LaLiga, Oscar Mayo, Globant’s approach towards business transformation and innovation proved invaluable for LaLiga’s ambitious growth plans.

“Partnering with Globant will allow us to continue this growth at a global scale while creating the most immersive and valuable technologies for our clients,” said Mayo. “Globant’s expertise in business transformation, combined with our long-standing experience of how to grow sports competitions through technology, creates a unique and exciting proposition for the market.”

Romy Gai, FIFA’s Chief Business Officer echoed a similar sentiment, citing Globant’s vital role in positioning FIFA+ as a groundbreaking digital hub built to inspire football fans across the globe.

In October, Globant inked a multi-year deal with FIFA to propel the growth of the FIFA+ streaming platform.

  • In addition to the core streaming product, Globant is tasked with creating new features and connected experiences for users while also assisting with the platform’s global distribution.
  • Designed specifically with the younger generation in mind, these efforts will help FIFA transform FIFA+ into a multi-faceted content platform packed with services around NFTs, gaming, and more.

Recognizing that the most valuable memories are those created at live sporting events themselves, Globant has also partnered with the L.A. Clippers to reinvent the digital roadmap for the team’s new Intuit Dome. Built by sports fans, for sports fans, the technologically-advanced arena, entertainment venue, and outdoor plaza is set to open in Inglewood in 2024.

According to L.A. Clippers President of Business Operations, Gillian Zucker, the Intuit Dome will apply cutting-edge, emerging technologies to create a frictionless, end-to-end fan experience that reaches previously unseen levels of immersive engagement.

The best part? This is only the beginning. With Globant’s help, the future of sports fan engagement looks more promising than ever.
