The NCAA limits the gifts players can get for making it to a bowl game to $950 total, $400 from their school, and another $550 from bowl organizers.
Here’s the breakdown of what players will get for Saturday’s College Football Playoff semifinals:
Vrbo Fiesta Bowl: Players on the TCU and Michigan football teams could have the edge as they will come away with a Blackstone electric tabletop griddle, Yeti Roadie cooler, HidrateSpark Pro insulated bottle and Nike backpack. The Fort Worth Star-Telegram used Amazon to total up the haul and came up with a total value of $671, but an online retailer search by Front Office Sports showed that swag could be found for under the NCAA limit at other retailers.
Chick-Fil-A Peach Bowl: Georgia and Ohio State players will leave Atlanta with a $400 Mastercard gift card along with Peach Bowl branded watch and a personalized football, according to a bowl spokesperson.
A spokesperson for the College Football Playoff told FOS that it doesn’t release what swag the players will get for the title game on Jan. 9 this far before the game.
According to NCAA rules, bowl organizers have to provide gifts for as many as 125 players on each team. The MVP for each bowl game can also receive up to $350 outside the $550 gift limit.
