As the NFL continues to grapple with how it handles head and neck injuries, a new report suggests that a majority of the league’s fans will continue to watch regardless.

A new survey from Morning Consult found that concussions had “no impact” on 70% of NFL fans’ interest in watching games; 23% of fans said they are “somewhat less interested,” while 7% responded that they are “much less interested.”

There was a fascinating split between generations of football fans surveyed.

Gen Z respondents had the highest percentage of how much concussions impacted their interest at least somewhat (38%), while Baby Boomers had the lowest such percentage (22%).

Whether or not they’re watching, fans do believe that players and teams should practice caution when dealing with head injuries.

A plurality of NFL fans surveyed (43%) believe that players should consider returning to play 2-4 weeks after a concussion.

And some fans think even that might not be enough: 21% believe players should wait at least a month, while 19% think they should stay sidelined for the remainder of the season.
