Every close call in Major League Baseball™ can shift the momentum of a game. Inside the MLB™ Replay Operations Center in Manhattan, umpires review plays using multiple camera angles to determine whether calls on the field should stand or be overturned. Front Office Sports goes behind the scenes to explore how the operation works and the technology that helps Major League Baseball™ make decisions in real time.
The Major League Baseball™ replay system connects all 30 ballparks to the Replay Operations Center, where video coaches have just 15 seconds to evaluate footage and advise managers on whether to challenge a call. While MLB™ proprietary technology delivers the video evidence, Zoom serves as the league’s official communication platform. Through Zoom Contact Center, team video coaches can contact MLB™ staff directly to address issues with video, routing, or equipment before the challenge window expires.
Zoom role with Major League Baseball™ extends beyond replay reviews. The league also uses Zoom Events and unified communications to connect club war rooms, scouts, and other participants during the MLB Draft, helping teams coordinate decisions securely and in real time. Zoom Contact Center also supports MLB.TV™ fan services, helping fans get information about where to watch games and what is happening across the league.
