Trump Golf Courses Secure 2026 Stops on LIV, PGA

The PGA and LIV commitments mean the last leg for a full return of Trump courses would be the British Open returning to Turnberry.

LIV Golf and the PGA Tour are set to make stops at courses owned by President Donald Trump for the first time in the same season, while his hopes for the British Open to return to Turnberry remains up in the air.

LIV Golf announced Wednesday it’s returning to Trump National Golf Club Washington D.C. in Sterling, Va., next May as part of an eight event 2026 schedule. The club last hosted a LIV tournament in 2023. LIV Golf has played at a Trump-owned course every year since its inception in 2022, with some years stopping multiple times.

The PGA Tour is reported to return to Trump National Doral Golf Club in Miami the week before the LIV event. The 2016 WGC-Cadillac Championship was the last time the PGA Tour played at Doral, and since the course is not on LIV’s 2026 schedule, it opened the door for the PGA Tour to make the return.

The PGA and LIV commitments mean the last leg for a full return of Trump courses would be the British Open returning to Turnberry. Trump purchased Turnberry in 2014 for $60 million; the British Open was last played there in  2009. The 2012 senior British Open and 2015 Women’s British Open are the last two tournaments hosted at Turnberry.

“I am thrilled to welcome LIV Golf back to Trump National Golf Club Washington, D.C.,” Eric Trump, EVP of the Trump Organization, said in the announcement. “When we last hosted at Trump D.C, we set all-time attendance records—and this year will be even bigger. I look forward to showcasing one of the nation’s most iconic golf venues and welcoming back many of the world’s greatest golfers.”

Ahead of the British Open at Royal Portrush last month, Mark Darbon, CEO of the R&A which organizes the British Open, said “logistical challenges” gave the R&A pause about returning to Turnberry.

Darbon said he does not feel pressure to host a British Open at Turnberry after reports that Trump asked U.K. government officials if Turnberry could host another British Open.

Royal Birkdale in 2026 and St. Andrew’s in 2027 are the next two British Open venues, which means 2028 is the next time it could return to Turnberry—the last full year Trump is in office.

Three-day ticket packages for LIV Golf Virginia are on sale for $89.99.
