The Faces Behind FOS: Russ Wilde

As the summer winds down, we decided to showcase the many faces behind FOS, what they do outside of the site and what their career aspirations are! Today you get to meet Russ Wilde, our President!

What is your current role/year in school outside of FOS?

I currently work on the Talent Team at Thuzio as an Agency Relations Associate.

What is your current role for FOS and how long have you been doing that?

My current title is President of Front Office Sports. I started in November of 2014 as the Social Media Specialist and have served as President since April of this year.

What drew you to FOS in the beginning and why do you think it is important for students and young professionals to know that this resource is out there?

I joined FOS because I was looking for another way to market myself and connect with people in the sports business community. The industry as a whole is such a tight-knit group and FOS has allowed me to wiggle myself into the #sportsbiz space.

It’s important for students to search out information about whatever industry they anticipate on joining post-graduation. Reading and learning about the people that make up social circles is imperative for those looking to enter the workforce in a particular field.

Favorite professional sports team? Favorite venue that you have been too?

My favorite sports team is (unfortunately) the New York Jets and my favorite sports venue is Madison Square Garden.

Career aspirations and goals?

As for career aspirations, I don’t really focus too much on the future or where I hope to be one day. I much rather focus on the present and making sure that I am learning and growing each day.

Words of wisdom?

Network.

By this time next year I see myself…..

…continuing my career at Thuzio and looking for ways to expand FOS to help more students each day
