Jake Paul Claims He’ll Make $40 Million Off Tyson Netflix Fight

  • Tyson is much older than Paul, raising safety concerns in the fight.
  • The fight will have 14-ounce gloves and two-minute rounds.

Win or lose, Jake Paul claims he will be making a fortune off his fight with Mike Tyson.

Speaking at Fanatics Fest on Sunday ahead of the Nov. 15 fight in Arlington, Texas, Paul said he’s getting eight figures to fight Tyson.

“I’m here to make $40 million and knock out a legend,” Paul said at the press conference.

A Netflix spokesperson did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Paul also took a shot at the Big Apple, Tyson’s hometown and the location of the press conference. “New York, you’re just like Mike Tyson, you were good 20 years ago,” the YouTuber turned fighter said.

Much has been made about the upcoming fight, and safety concerns stemming from the 31-year age difference between the two competitors. Tyson is 58 and had an ulcer flare in May, leading to the fight’s postponement from its original July 20 date and has also dealt with sciatica, which has caused him to use a wheelchair. Paul is 27 and has posted a 10–1 record in his boxing career, with seven wins coming from knockouts.

In April, the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation—which is overseeing the fight—approved the match to have eight two-minute rounds with competitors wearing 14-ounce gloves, which are on the heavier side. The heavier gloves are seen as a concession to Paul, while the shorter rounds are a concession to Tyson’s age. The TDLR also said it reviewed both fighters’ medical records “to ensure they are physically able to compete.”

Tyson last fought in 2020 under special rules designed for the safety of older boxers.
