Sports Innovation Lab has released its annual Top 25 Most Innovative Teams report — and many of Europe’s soccer clubs appear within its ranks.
Barcelona tops the list after finishing fourth last year. Rival Real Madrid comes in at second, followed by Arsenal and Manchester City.
The Philadelphia 76ers come in at fifth, marking both the first American and NBA team on the list. The Dallas Mavericks (9) and Minnesota Timberwolves (11) come next for the Association, with NBA teams occupying six of the final nine spots.
The Atlanta Braves (7), Boston Red Sox (13), and Washington Nationals (24) represent MLB.
Interestingly, the Washington Capitals (15) are the only NHL team on the list, and NFL teams only occupy two spots — the Seattle Seahawks at 18th and the Los Angeles Rams at 21st.
SIL uses revenue diversification, technological enablement, and organization agility in its methodology to select the teams. They draw data from multiple streams of publicly available information.
