Frank Reich was the first starting quarterback in Carolina Panthers history when he went under center for the expansion franchise in 1995. As he prepares to return to the Panthers — this time as head coach — he is establishing his residence in one of Charlotte’s most exclusive neighborhoods.

Reich recently closed on a 7,637-square-foot estate for $3.45 million in Charlotte’s Foxcroft neighborhood, according to a press release from realtor Premier Sotheby’s International Realty provided to the Charlotte Observer.

Built in 2017, the property was bought by Laura Merling and Calum Macrae in October 2018 for $2.72 million. According to Mecklenburg County records, it had a tax-appraised value of approximately $2.3 million.

The four-bedroom, 5.5-bathroom residence “is perfectly placed near Charlotte’s city center,” Sotheby’s listing agent Jessica Grier said in the release and features an open floor plan with classic architectural elements, bluestone floors, custom built-ins, and masonry fireplaces.

The home has an “elegant owner’s suite” and a gourmet chef’s kitchen. It also boasts impressive indoor-outdoor space with a covered veranda and fire pit.

“We recognized that it would attract a special buyer, but this far exceeded any of our expectations,” said Grier.
