BIG3 co-founder and rap legend Ice Cube has taken over as CEO of the 3-on-3 pro league, the league announced this week.

Cube replaces Chris Hannan, who was tapped as CEO in February 2021. BIG3’s other co-founder, Jeff Kwatinetz, will assume the role of league president as part of the front office shakeup.

“Even more important to the BIG3 family is to uphold the core principles our league stands for — a culture of inclusion, integrity, and teamwork. Since day one of our league, our guiding internal message has been ‘one team, one mission’ and it is in that spirit that we will be moving forward,” BIG3 said in a statement to Front Office Sports.

The BIG3 recently completed its fifth season with Trilogy — coached by former NBA champ Stephen Jackson — repeating as champs. Viewership of the championship game on Aug. 21 was up 30% compared to 2021, according to the BIG3.

The BIG3’s Monster Energy Celebrity Game will be broadcast on CBS this Sunday at 4 p.m. ET.

SportsPro was the first outlet to report BIG3’s front office changes.
