While uncertainty continues to hang over the A’s, they continue to make history with their broadcast booth.

A week after Jenny Cavnar joined NBC California’s A’s coverage to become the first female play-by-play announcer in baseball, the network added Chris Caray in the same role to become the fourth-generation baseball broadcaster in the family.

Caray’s father, Chip, is the Cardinals’ TV play-by-play voice, while his grandfather, Skip, called Braves games for more than 30 years. Chris Caray’s great-grandfather is Harry Caray, the legendary baseball broadcaster mainly known for calling Cardinals and Cubs games and was famously impersonated by Will Ferrell on Saturday Night Live

It’s unclear how many games Caray will call with Cavnar set to be the A’s main broadcaster, but it’s a bigger wonder if the broadcast team is renting or buying housing in the Bay Area given the team’s possible move to Las Vegas. The latest talk has the organization playing in Sacramento before moving to Vegas in 2028, but much remains to be settled. Commissioner Rob Manfred recently said he would be “disappointed” if the team is unable to pull the move off before their target of ’28.
