Amazon has reportedly bid between $70 million and $100 million to add a Black Friday NFL game to its current package by next year.
The league’s owners passed a resolution that allows the NFL to schedule an additional short-week game, clearing the way for a Black Friday contest without having to change the remaining schedule.
The addition could see teams receive between $2.1 million and $3.2 million.
Any game on Black Friday would likely take place in the afternoon due to the league’s antitrust exemption, which bars the NFL from televising primetime games on Friday Nights in November.
The USA-England World Cup group-stage match is scheduled for the same day.
Last year, Amazon purchased rights to “Thursday Night Football” as part of a 10-year deal worth roughly $1 billion per year. That package begins in 2023.
The NFL releases the 2022 season schedule on May 12.
