“Nothing works unless you do.”

Sometimes the best life advice comes from a water bottle.

This story starts about 3 years back. As I entered my junior year of undergrad, I was naïve, and thought I would soon be on my path towards a career in sports. I applied for any sports related internship I could find. I grew frustrated, waiting for one team to give me a chance, but that chance would never come.

Move to senior year and again I went through the internship search, and while at first the results were still not positive, I finally landed an opportunity with the Edenton Steamers. About the time I left for North Carolina, I had the opportunity to get involved with FOS.

The things I have learned since joining the FOS team have shown me just how far behind I was, and the things I need to do to get a team or league to take a chance on me.

As FOS turns two, I can honestly say it has been a key part of my growth in the sports industry. Not only have the conversations with industry professionals given me an opportunity to find ways for me to grow as a professional, but the chance to meet with my peers that are going through the same struggles I am keep me motivated and excited about the things to come.

FOS has given not only myself, but anyone that really wants to work in the sports industry a platform to continue grinding, chasing that next step, and that’s why I can’t wait to see where year three takes us.
