If you haven’t watched HGTV or scrolled down your Instagram feed in awhile, you might not be aware of the hottest thing in housing: the tiny house.

Usually around 500 square feet, tiny houses maximize every inch of space, while providing a cost-effective way to own a home that gets rid of all the extras that a normal cookie-cutter neighborhood house may have.

The trend has not only caught on with millennials, but with sports properties who see the homes as an advantageous way to offer an experience you can’t get in front of your TV.

The latest property to participate is Gateway Motorsports Park, who will roll out a Try it Tiny Village for the second annual Bommarito Automotive Group 500 Verizon IndyCar Series race.

The Try It Tiny Village will offer race fans a high-end experience with all of the amenities of a traditional home.

“We are thrilled to be partnering with Gateway Motorsports Park for the first Gateway Tiny House Village,” said Maggie Daniels, Founder of Try It Tiny. “Race fans now have another option to enjoy their favorite sport while staying in an exclusive tiny house village. Motorsport enthusiasts will have a front row seat to enjoy the action, living between Turns 3 and 4 during race week.”

For Gateway, the activation is about creating a unique experience for fans who may not want to bring an RV, but want the same experience that comes with being able to park and stay on the infield of a track.

“Our motto for the 2018 season is ‘Bigger, Better, Faster’ and Try It Tiny Village will be another first for our guests,” said Chris Blair, Gateway Motorsports Park’s Vice President and General Manager. “We are always striving to create unique new experiences for our fans and Try It Tiny Village is a fascinating and fabulous way for them to enjoy the INDYCAR weekend.”

Not only do the tiny houses provide a unique experience, they are very reasonable in terms of pricing.

Of the twenty units that will be available at Gateway Motorsports Park, two units will sleep two and 18 units will sleep up to four people.

Starting at $1,750 for the four-person unit, a small group of friends can stay on the infield for roughly $145 a night.

The best part? The fans who book a tiny house also get two or four general admission tickets to the race (based on occupancy), one infield parking pass, two or four paddock passes and a concierge service provided by the Try it Tiny group.

While not all sports can provide an opportunity like this given that races are drawn out over an entire weekend, the ability to provide fans with experiences like this at say the Super Bowl or College Football Playoff National Championship could be something both sponsors and leagues take advantage of.
