Jay Bilas Skills Camp Seeking Social Media Marketing Intern


Each June the Jay Bilas Skills Camp is held at Queens University in Charlotte, North Carolina. This year’s event will be taking place June 10th through the 12th. After growing in each of the first two years the camp has been held, they are expanding the number of spots for attendees. Because of this, the marketing, social media and sponsorship efforts are being ramped up in an effort to grow the camp at an even greater rate.

The Jay Bilas Skill Camp and Camp Director John Searby are actively searching for a student interested in a social media marketing internship for this year’s event. Also new to this year’s event is the launch of the brand new camp website, which can be found at jaybilascamp.com. This is a great opportunity and resume builder for current students.

During the course of the internship that will last from February to July of 2016, students will gain a variety of marketing skills and get a better understanding of what goes on behind the scenes. Some of the skills include:

Creation of social media marketing plans that will be tailored to individual media platforms and will follow through from start to finish, managing each step along the way.

They will execute a pre-approved plan over the length of the internship that will include at least two different social media platforms; some content will be pre-determined, some is left to the creative mind of the intern.

Attending each day of the Jay Bilas Skills Camp in June 2016 and have the ability to cover the event live on the event’s social media platforms.

The intern will receive a stipend of $500 pending a full completion of the internship with a possible incentive bonus for exceptional success gaining followers and engagement on social media platforms. The deadline to apply is January 18th. Finalists will be interviewed in late-January with a decision made by February 1st.
