WWE Sells Record 90K WrestleMania Tickets on 1st Day of Sales

  • The figure represents a 42% increase in first-day sales from WrestleMania 38.
  • The company’s marquee event returns to L.A. for the first time since 2005.

Coming off a record Q2 that saw $328.2 million in revenue, WWE has passed another company milestone.

On Tuesday, the company reported that it sold over 90,000 tickets to WrestleMania 39 at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles in the first 24 hours — a first-day sales record for any event in WWE history.

The figure also represents a 42% increase in first-day sales from WrestleMania 38, which took place this past April at AT&T Stadium in Dallas.

The company’s marquee event returns to L.A. for the first time since 2005, when it was staged at the 20,000-seat Crypto.com Arena (then known as Staples Center).

It’s worth noting that WrestleMania 39 will be only the fourth two-day iteration of the event — and only the second that wasn’t affected by COVID-19.

  • WrestleMania 36 took place with no fans in attendance at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando.
  • WrestleMania 37 was capped at around 25,000 fans per day at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa.
  • WrestleMania 38 reportedly attracted a record 156,352 fans over two days and broke the company’s revenue records as well.

All the same, it’s a towering achievement for a company that only seems to be trending upwards despite the recent controversies surrounding its founder, Vince McMahon.

The Vince-less leadership is very encouraged by the results.

“In nearly 40 years, we have never sold that many WrestleMania tickets that fast,” said executive vice president Paul Levesque, aka wrestler Triple H. “With those record numbers, we are tracking toward sell-outs with passionate fans at SoFi Stadium for both nights.”
