The SEC isn’t letting LSU off the hook, even though the school backed down from adding two former NFL players to its roster. The conference is pressing ahead with its lawsuit, arguing LSU continues to defy its rules—and is still threatening to kick LSU out of the conference.

Minnesota Lynx head coach Cheryl Reeve just won her fifth State Street Investment Management SPY WNBA Coach of the Year Award. According to the WNBA, that’s the most by any coach in major American pro sports history. Gregg Popovich and Bill Belichick each won it three times.
The milestones keep stacking up. Reeve passed Mike Thibault in July to become the WNBA’s winningest coach, and she finished the regular season with 397 wins as the Lynx went 33–11 and locked up the No. 1 seed. Her 66.4% career regular-season winning percentage tops Popovich’s.
She also runs the business side as president of basketball operations. The franchise’s estimated value has jumped from $85 million in 2024 to $405 million today.

The WNBA—and its athletes—show us that greatness isn’t defined by a single moment. It’s built through discipline, resilience, and the vision it takes to get where you want to go. But even the best don’t do it alone. Behind every WNBA athlete is a coach. Someone who helps them stay focused, adapt, and keep moving toward their goals.

Alaric Jackson ⬇ The NFL suspended the Rams left tackle for two games without pay after he punched Bills linebacker Bradley Chubb in the face. Jackson will lose $2.27 million in salary and bonuses as he sits out, according to Spotrac. The incident occurred on the field following a brief heated exchange between the two after Buffalo prevailed in a 37–34 overtime thriller.

U.S. Soccer ⬆ The federation announced a new women’s knockout tournament Wednesday featuring teams from the NWSL and Gainbridge Super League competing for a prize pool of at least $1.5 million. The Arthur M. Blank Crest Cup still has a lot of details to work out, including when it’ll start and where it’ll fall in the soccer calendar.

Gael Monfils ⬆⬇ The 40-year-old fan favorite appeared on the International Tennis Integrity Agency’s inactive list, meaning he has now played the final tennis match of his career. Monfils was planning to play an ATP 250 in Lyon next week and close his career at the Paris Masters in November, but he pulled out of the former due to personal reasons, the tournament said. Monfils already has some lucrative post-career plans lined up, however. He’ll be joining Swiss wealth management firm AlphaSwiss starting next year.

Arsenal ⬇ The club is planning to make 60 staff positions redundant across a number of departments, despite winning its first Premier League title in 22 years last season. Arsenal reported a revenue increase for the 2024–25 financial year, but still made a pre-tax loss of $1.8 million (£1.4 million). It also recently made Mikel Arteta the highest-paid manager in the Premier League, signing him to a four-year extension that could see him make more than $20 million per year, including bonuses.
