True strength comes from within. That is the message Clover Sonoma wants to convey with the launch of their new “Strong Inside” campaign celebrating the inner strength of women.
Clover Sonoma is a third-generation, family-owned and operated dairy based in Northern California. This week, the company introduced their new campaign featuring women who embody inner strength – championship-winning athletes Brandi Chastain, Alysia Montaño, Jennifer Azzi, and Emmy-winning sports journalist Amy Gutierrez – to help inspire and empower others.
“As a local dairy that creates conscious dairy products for growing families, we wanted to harness the energy and strength of women athletes, who are role models in their communities, to figure out what makes them strong inside,” said Clover Sonoma Vice President of Sales and Marketing Kristel Corson. “As a mom, I know the value in sharing positive stories that inspire and empower the next generation. I also know the nutritional value of our products are essential for not only growing bodies, but also for athletes who need the strength to reach their goals.”
The campaign will be distributed as a series of videos across digital platforms including social media and sponsored ads. Each video highlights the respective subjects’ collective body of work in sports as well as their current roles, from coach to career to motherhood. The videos also detail the importance of mental and emotional strength, as well as physical strength, in achieving their individual goals, as well as the role of dairy in building all three of those strengths. The campaign is a collaboration between Clover Sonoma and athlete brand strategy agency, BrandForward.
“When it comes to sports, I believe the most important muscle in your body is from your shoulders up,” said Brandi Chastain. “You can have someone who’s incredibly strong or fit or technical, but if they can’t think under pressure or see the next best option, their overall effectiveness won’t be as high as it could be. I talk to my players about the importance of nutrition in helping their brains, and having good protein through a glass of milk is a perfect example of something they can do daily.”
It is worth noting that the difference in advertising spend between male and female athletes is still monumental. Sports advertising campaigns featuring all-female endorsers, be it on television, print mediums or digital, are still very rare. This is still true despite the fact that, in the United States, women make up roughly 40% of the athlete population. For these reasons and more, Clover and BrandFoward take great pride in sharing the stories of these four women.
